Met By Nick & QUALITY: Connection in an Age of Isolation

The Crisis We Face Together

In 2023, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy declared something that many of us already felt in our bones: America is experiencing a loneliness epidemic. Since then, the crisis has only deepened. By 2024, approximately 20% of U.S. adults, an estimated 52 million people are experiencing daily loneliness, representing a three-point increase since the start of 2024. 30% of adults say they have experienced feelings of loneliness at least once a week over the past year, while 10% say they are lonely every day.

The impact varies dramatically across generations, painting a troubling picture of isolation across all age groups:

Gen Z (ages 18–26): The loneliest generation, with 71–80% reporting feelings of loneliness — nearly 8 in 10 young adults struggling with isolation.

Millennials (ages 27–43): 65–72% report loneliness, with 30% saying they always or often feel lonely. Remarkably, 73% of millennials identify as lonely, and 42% of millennial women say they’re more afraid of loneliness than a cancer diagnosis.

Gen X (ages 44–59): 59–60% experience loneliness, with 30% reporting they sometimes feel lonely and a devastating 22% saying they have no close friends at all.

Baby Boomers (ages 60+): While “only” 44–45% report loneliness, this still represents nearly half of an entire generation feeling isolated in their later years.

The social connections that once sustained us continue to erode; for young people ages 15 to 24, time spent with friends has plummeted by 70%, dropping from 150 minutes per day in 2003 to just 40 minutes in 2020.

The consequences extend far beyond feeling sad. Loneliness increases the risk of premature death by nearly 30%, raises heart disease risk by 29%, stroke risk by 32%, and dementia risk by 50% in older adults. 81% of lonely individuals report experiencing anxiety or depression, revealing the devastating mental health toll. We’ve shifted from having confidants to contacts, from friends to followers; prioritizing quantity over the quality of human connection that our souls desperately crave.

A Personal Message from Nick

You’re not alone.

Someone has your back.

You’ve got a friend.

You’re not alone and I won’t let you be alone.

I’m Nick, a 33-year-old matchmaker who spends every day trying to connect people, and I want you to know something: I get it. I know how it feels to be alone. I know what it’s like to be tough on yourself, to struggle with self-compassion when you need it most. I know how it feels to disappoint others, to carry that weight of letting people down.

As someone who witnesses the human desire for connection daily, I have deep compassion for those who feel judged, discriminated against, labeled, or believe that people simply don’t like them. I care about people who are completely burnt out, drowning in depression and anxiety. I care about those who want to feel loved unconditionally, not just when they meet certain expectations. I care for people who have endured loss and trauma, who are trying to rebuild their capacity to trust and connect.

While I’m passionate about helping individuals find romantic love, what truly motivates me every day is witnessing humans connect in genuine and authentic ways. No matter your faith, political ideology, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, economic status, or age; I accept you for who you are, because I hope you would accept me for who I am.

What Met By Nick & QUALITY Represent

This is what Met By Nick is about. This is what QUALITY is about. We’re here for you; not just as a business transaction, but as fellow human beings navigating this increasingly isolated world together.

Our mission and purpose are built on three fundamental principles:

Respect

We honor your story, your journey, and your individual path to connection. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of where they are in life.

Kindness

In a world that can feel harsh and judgmental, we choose compassion. We believe kindness has the power to heal and create the safe spaces where authentic connection can flourish.

Curiosity

We approach each person with genuine interest in who they are, not who we think they should be. Curiosity opens doors to understanding and creates bridges between people.

Making a Difference in an Isolated World

We are a matchmaking company with a purpose that transcends the transactional. While we’re here to help you find love, we’re equally committed to helping you feel more connected in a world that’s becoming ever more isolated.

In an age where technology promises connection but often delivers isolation, where we have more ways to communicate but less meaningful conversation, Met By Nick & QUALITY stands as a reminder that genuine human connection is not just possible, it’s essential.

You matter. Your story matters. Your desire for connection is valid and human and beautiful.

You’re not alone in this journey. We’re here, and we’re not going anywhere.
